Is Console Gaming Dead? The majority of games released today are for PC with game developers working more on PC games than for other platforms. Xbox’s next gen console in-development appears more like a PC than a console with stronger focus on storefront and cloud gaming than in the past. Steam, the dominant gaming software platform for PC’s, have just released their new controller to compete with the standardised Xbox controller for PCs but will also combine with their up-coming ‘Steam Machine’ that according to their website is “PC gaming made easy”, essentially describing it as a console. For years now most consoles have required perpetual internet connectivity even when not playing online due to the need for constant game patching and software updates. The line between console and PC is becoming more and more blurred with even the Switch 2 enabling mouse-like controllers. #Data is beautiful #Game addicts 🤪🎮
